This week the Year 8 science fair, themed “Curiosity – What’s Your Question?”, was a brilliant celebration of imagination, investigation and scientific thinking. Our year 8 students impressed judges and visitors alike with projects that asked bold questions and explored everything from practical experiments to big‑picture ideas.

Four outstanding entrants (Brian, Scarlett, Bibby and Kayleigh) were awarded £10 Amazon vouchers for the creativity, clarity and curiosity shown in their work, although the judges said that they could have awarded many more prizes due to the high standard.

In the end Scarlett was awarded the Science fair trophy for her project. Her work highlighted the achievements of pioneering female scientists and encouraged her peers to think about equality and representation in STEM.

Well done year 8 on delivering what was easily the best science fair we’ve ever experienced.

Minsthorpe Community College is once again delighted with their students’ achievements. Due to their commitment to their learning and motivation to succeed, Year 11 have achieved excellent results across a wide range of courses making themselves, their teachers and their parents proud. These results will unlock doors for students enabling them to access a variety of courses and opportunities which will lead them to further success.

The Joint Principals Mr Gilmore and Mrs Merritt commented,

GCSE Results Day is always a special day, but today the celebratory atmosphere at the College has been wonderful. The Main Hall has been bustling with overjoyed young people with their proud parents and teachers. These students have worked incredibly hard for five years and thoroughly deserve their success. We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the massive team effort and to thank the students’ parents/carers for their invaluable support, our staff for going over and above for the young people and the governors for their ongoing commitment to the College. Another proud day for Team Minsthorpe!

The College is particularly proud of the Motivation, Commitment and Care which all students have demonstrated, however there were numerous individual student successes including, Alyssia Atkinson, Evren Owsiejczyk, Georgia Bloomer, Harry Santos, Lena Jaworska, Oliver Hancock and Oren Welsh.

We feel privileged that so many students are choosing to return to Minsthorpe’s Post 16 to continue their learning journey and would like to wish those who have chosen other paths into further education, apprenticeships or employment the very best for the future.
