Minsthorpe Community College

Safeguarding

Minsthorpe Community College recognises our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children as stipulated in ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected, valued and happy. We will act quickly and follow our Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures (which are outlined further within our policy section of the website) to ensure children are protected from harm. We will endeavour to source the right support, including early help, which will include work with external agencies

If you have concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of a student please contact one of the designated staff below at the College on 01977 657600 or via enquiries@minsthorpe.cc .

If you are worried that a child is at immediate risk please contact the Police 999/111 and Social Care on 0345 8 503 503.

We provide exciting educational opportunities within an ethos of care, guidance and support. We know that students learn best in a safe, calm and orderly environment and staff are trained to recognise, share and report any concerns they may have about a child. Equally we expect all students to be committed to their own learning and progress to secure bright futures where they can make a positive contribution to their communities.

At Minsthorpe Community College we are proud of our pastoral curriculum which educates all students about important sensitive issues including: Relationships and Sexual Education (RSE); Fundamental British Values (FBV); Online Safety and other topics that enable our students to lead healthy, safe lives. Similarly, we encourage students to care about each other and share worries they have with trusted adults within our setting.

If you have any queries or questions, please contact Mrs Collins, Designated Safeguarding Lead via enquiries@minsthorpe.cc

Please visit our Policies page for our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies, which are reviewed annually in line with the statutory requirements.

If you wish to access any information or guidance please refer to the Parent/Carer section – Safeguarding or Student section – Safeguarding as appropriate.
