Our Curriculum Structure

Students follow a two-week timetable to maximise learning and the curriculum planning is reviewed regularly to ensure all learners needs are being met.  Below outlines the current experience in each year group:-

Year 7 (2022 - 2023)

This cohort will follow a 3-year Key Stage 3 and will choose their GCSE choices in Year 9 to start their Key Stage 4 in Year 10.

Within the two-week timetable (each lesson is 1 hour & 40 mins) students have:

Year 8 (2022 - 2023)

This cohort is the last year group to follow a 2-year Key Stage 3.

Within the two-week timetable (each lesson is 1 hour & 40 mins) students have:

All curriculum areas cover the National Curriculum Programmes of Study.

Students select their Option subjects in March, these are shared in May through 1:1 interviews as part of the Progression Programme.  Students start studying their options in Year 9.

Students will be directed to the most suitable options in either the Aspire Pathway (EBACC) or Aspire Choice Pathway (EBACC optional but still available).

 

Year 9 (2022 - 2023)

Within ‘Option’ Subjects Year 9 is a depth and exploration year, students are delivered a curriculum that explores aspects of that specialism which provide the foundations for greater knowledge and understanding and therefore, success at GCSE.
