Minsthorpe Community College

Progress and Achievement (P&A) Curriculum

At Minsthorpe Community College we provide a curriculum which extends beyond the academic, technical, and vocational subjects students study through their main timetable. Our aim is to enhance the opportunities and experiences for all our students so that they develop personally and build on their wider life skills and knowledge through following a planned and structured weekly timetable of activities delivered by their dedicated P&A mentor and alongside their peers in their P&A group.

The aims & ethos of our P&A Curriculum can be summarised as follows:

  • To allow time to establish a key point of adult contact for each student;
  • To contribute to the enhancement of the character of each student through a focus on personal development;
  • To focus on individual progress with an emphasis on attendance and achievement;
  • To develop core Literacy skills with an emphasis on reading;
  • To allow time to consolidate key knowledge from across the curriculum;
  • To ensure students are ready to ‘Learn & Behave the Minsthorpe Way’ at the start of the College day.

For further information please download the documents below which outline the weekly P&A Curriculum timetable and the thematic overviews for the Autumn term P&A sessions and assemblies. This page is updated on a regular basis throughout the year to show the latest overviews of the curriculum.

If you have any question about the P&A Curriculum, please contact Mrs Read, Associate Assistant Principal via enquiries@minsthorpe.cc
